Shvabe veterans actively participated in celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of Victory

In connection with the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of Victory in Vologda, veterans of Shvabe Holding took an active participation in solemn ceremonies of laying of wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial and also in the city festival “Salute, Victory”.

The veterans’ organization of Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant OJSC (VOMZ OJSC), a Shvabe Holding enterprise, is deservedly considered to be one of the most active organizations in the city. For example, the vocal band of veterans of Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant, directed by Mikhail Zorin, gladdened the visitors of the city festival “Salute, Victory” with an exciting performance of popular wartime songs. And on the eve of the Victory Day, the veteran of the Great Patriotic War Vladimir Kruglov, representing the veterans’ organization of Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant, took part in the solemn ceremony of laying of wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial in Revolution Square.

Currently, the veterans’ organization of Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant unites over 180 former plant workers. Thanks to the support provided by the plant administration, the veterans regularly visit museums and theatres, have regular working tours offered by the Nordic walking club, and are also provided with tickets to sanatoriums and target financial assistance.

The members of VOMZ veterans’ organization include eight participants of the Great Patriotic War and 18 workers of the rear. On the eve of the 70th Anniversary of Victory, activists from the trade union and the youth organization of Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant visited all the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. In addition to valuable gifts, they were provided with financial aid. Moreover, the plant organized a solemn dinner for war participants, workers of the rear and members of the council of the veterans’ organization on the eve of the Victory Day.
