The Control and Testing Center (KIC) of the Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant (NPZ) of Shvabe Holding has successfully passed the certification for compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, for technical testing and calibration of the products. More than 15 thousand units of various electro-optical products can be tested monthly in the premises of the center, located on three above the ground floors and three basement floors.
The Control and Testing Center tests all manufactured products to meet established quality standards: day and night optics, range finders, day and night sights, target designators, thermal imaging products, telescopes, optical and mechanical devices. When testing the product at the test site, a full cycle testing is carried out, imitating all life stages of the device.
All the tests are divided into climatic, mechanical and natural. Climatic testing includes temperature exposure, reduced pressure, static dust, humidity, sunlight exposure, marine fog and precipitation. When testing for mechanical effects, various types of vibration, mechanical shocks and transportation imitation are applied. The devices are also tested for resistance to thermal shocks in the temperature range from -70 to +80 ° C. In the pressure box they create an instantaneous atmospheric pressure drop and an equally sharp temperature drop. Full-scale field tests (practical shooting from all types of weapons using the Shvabe sights) are carried out at a special testing area.
"Our company pays special attention to the quality of its products. All civil and special products of the plant undergo major cascade tests, established by the standards of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. Certification of the Control and Testing Center will allow us to maximally expand the range of production tests for both our own products and the devices of the holding companies and external customers." (Vasily Rassokhin, Director General, Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant).
The work on creating a multifunctional Control and Testing Center on the basis of the existing control and testing station at the Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant (NPZ) began in 2015 on the initiative of the company management. While creating the center, the NPZ specialists thoroughly studied the world's best practices in the area. As a result, the technological infrastructure of the subdivision has increased by 1.5 times: over the years the plant has purchased and modernized more than 50 test benches.
